chass
Chess Battle Simulator is chess where gold is your army. You start with a lone king and a purse, then build your side one piece at a time in the middle of the fight.
Each turn, either make a chess move or buy a piece and drop it onto your back two ranks — buying costs your turn. Every enemy piece you capture pays a bounty into your purse (Queen 9g, Rook 5g, Bishop/Knight 3g, Pawn 1g, King free), and normal chess rules apply otherwise, including checkmate to win. The enemy shops by the same rules, so the armies grow and shift as the game goes on.
Modes include a scripted Level 1 ("The Keep") opening, a Free Battle mode where both sides start with just a king and a purse, and a Demo mode where you can watch two AIs play each other. A leaderboard tracks the fewest moves to take the Keep.
Built for NYU's Game Design course. Move rules powered by chess.js; piece art by Colin M.L. Burnett.
